I get to go shopping Sunday! It’s been a while since I last did some serious shopping. I’m definitely going to be hunting down deals to get the most bang for my buck. That’s sort of what inspired today’s post. I wish every season meant a brand new wardrobe but the reality of it is that, I have to find ways to rock seasonal stuff all year round. It allows you to have more outfit options no matter what time of year it is.

Major props to my mom for playing my photographer this morning! I think she did a great job. And yes, these shots would have been extra cool if I drove a Lambo or something but I don’t. Lol. I drive an ’98 honda civic and I love it! It’s the first and only car I’ve ever owned :)

Lara Croft Tomb Raider Inspired Look

LaraCroft2013
LaraCroftFire
I love doing style thief posts. They’re creative and I get to dress up…. that’s an ideal day in my book. This look was inspired by a not-so-typical and not-so-real celebrity, Lara Croft. The badass tomb raider hottie.  No, I’m not a gamer but style inspiration can literally come from anywhere.
I saw a commercial featuring Lara’s new look and felt compelled to recreate it. If you wipe off my fake blood and lose my pseudo war wound bandages, you actually have a very wearable everyday outfit. And to me, that is one of the coolest parts. Most of my outfit was thrifted or already in my closet but I created a set with items to help you recreate the tomb raider look.
I really want to start doing more style thief posts and show you how to get the looks you love from movies, tv shows, magazines and anywhere else you can find inspiration. You can send me looks you want to see recreated via email: Niki@LoveNiki.com or leave a comment on my Facebook page: Facebook.com/MsLoveNiki

Weekend Round Up

OOTD PlaidShirt LAshirt CoachWalletphotoBack to the daily grind! I wanted to share a few of my weekend purchases and my outfit. I bought the wallet a few weekends ago but haven’t had a chance to share it. I am in love with both items, they’re so me. Lol. Now, I know they look pricey and well, they are. BUT….there’s something I’ve learned when it comes to saving money. Sometimes buying a cheap item will cost you more than a pricey one, in the long run.

Case in point, I’ve broken a lot of cheap wallets. Lol. I still buy a few to have options for different events but when it comes to the main wallet I carry around I decided I wanted to invest in one that’ll likely last 2+ years. Same idea goes for the shirt.

Hope you and a great weekend! And be sure to check out the new ABOUT  section!

Jean Shorts Look 3: Denim on Denim

Make A Wish

RedpoptopJoie Red Top | Urban Outfitters Lace Top: Same| H&M Denim T-shirt: Similar| Jean Shorts: Similar

Remix number 3! It took 3 blouses to create this look. Lol. Layering is a little tricky for me. Because of my body shape, I can end up looking like a bulky blob if I’m not careful.

Yesterday’s look was so simple, relying only on an accessory to make it pop but today is all about dimension and color. The red spaghetti strap keeps the look festive, the white lace top adds the dimension, and the denim top tones it all down and pulls it together.

What do you think? Success?

Love,

Niki

p.s. I didn’t notice until I uploaded these photos that they remind me of those grade school photos you have to take with the fake tree. Lol….you know which ones I’m talking about?

I was able to spend $0 on this look! That’s kind of the broke girl theme of the week. Lol. I really like the fun vacationy feel of this outfit. I instantly imagine myself strolling the shore, ice cream cone in one hand, boyfriend in the other. (In my fantasies, junk food makes me skinny…just fyi)

Accessories can have such a big impact on an outfit, I really need to get better at utilizing mine. And I definitely need to pick up some new things, my collection is pretty small.

Where do you buy your accessories? And which accessory do you use the most?

WTW: For an Interview

LeatherSkirt

InterviewOutfit

RedheartPurse

SkirtButtonUp$6 F21 clearance skirt| Old Bamboo Heels from Burlington| Joie Striped Button-up| F21 Heart Bag

Interview style, day 2! Paired with the right top, a faux leather skirt can add the perfect amount of…of…. rawr! …to your outfit without making it look like you’re about to hit the club. My personal approach to interviews is to show them that I’m serious about the position but also show that I’m not pretending to be someone I’m not.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t suggest showing up in a mini dress and 6 inch stilettos, but let some of your personal style shine through.  You want them to see the real you. Maybe that sounds cheesy but I’m an eternal optimist and I really do believe it’ll all work out the way it’s suppose to.

Hope your hump day has been splendid. Let me know what you’re up to!

Niki

The Best Baroque Pants

BaroquePrint BaroquePattern SimpleFlats BaroqueStyleForever 21 Gold Flats: Similar| Forever 21 Satin Trim Blazer: Similar| Joie Top | Kohl’s Gold Baroque Pants

Why are these the best baroque pants? Because, as I might have mentioned before….they were only $10 at Kohl’s! Since I dubbed February love month, I thought this week should be about doing what you love. In just a few months a lot of you will graduate from high school or college and there’ll be one thing standing between you and that dream opportunity, an interview.

Maybe it’s for an entry level job in the field you’re passionate about or an amazing summer internship. Either way, I wanted to help by sharing a few interview outfit ideas this week. First up, is a business look with a lot of personality. I think this outfit is great if you want to look sharp but also show that you are bold and different.

Do you have any interviews coming up? Do you love your current job?

Plaid Dreamer

PlaidDreamer PlaidShirtA combination of country and casual style makes for a perfect picnic date outfit. I can’t remember the last time I had a picnic. As a kid I had a few makeshift backyard picnics and my parents took to us the duck park sometimes to share a meal on a blanket but that was all so long ago.

If you’re looking for a cool date idea, maybe you could consider planning a picnic :)

Leopard Skirt Romance

leopardhighlow leopardOutfit LeopardSkirtHi :) So I’m keeping these date night outfit posts pretty simple. But I have some very creative posts coming up in the next few weeks (so excited!) and I think that’ll create a nice balance.

This skirt is from… you guessed it…Forever 21. Lol. I wish there were more options within that price range. On the bright side, there’s a huge F21 by my house with a pretty big selection of stuff.

My shoes are sooo old but surprisingly comfy. They’re a $20 Ross find. And last but not least, my top is made by the company I work for Joie :)

I hope your week is off to a great start!

Love,

Niki
