Weekend Round Up

OOTD PlaidShirt LAshirt CoachWalletphotoBack to the daily grind! I wanted to share a few of my weekend purchases and my outfit. I bought the wallet a few weekends ago but haven’t had a chance to share it. I am in love with both items, they’re so me. Lol. Now, I know they look pricey and well, they are. BUT….there’s something I’ve learned when it comes to saving money. Sometimes buying a cheap item will cost you more than a pricey one, in the long run.

Case in point, I’ve broken a lot of cheap wallets. Lol. I still buy a few to have options for different events but when it comes to the main wallet I carry around I decided I wanted to invest in one that’ll likely last 2+ years. Same idea goes for the shirt.

Hope you and a great weekend! And be sure to check out the new ABOUT  section!

Niki

Jean Shorts Look 3: Denim on Denim

Make A Wish

Remix number 3! It took 3 blouses to create this look. Lol. Layering is a little tricky for me. Because of my body shape, I can end up looking like a bulky blob if I’m not careful.

Yesterday’s look was so simple, relying only on an accessory to make it pop but today is all about dimension and color. The red spaghetti strap keeps the look festive, the white lace top adds the dimension, and the denim top tones it all down and pulls it together.

What do you think? Success?

Love,

Niki

p.s. I didn’t notice until I uploaded these photos that they remind me of those grade school photos you have to take with the fake tree. Lol….you know which ones I’m talking about?

I was able to spend $0 on this look! That’s kind of the broke girl theme of the week. Lol. I really like the fun vacationy feel of this outfit. I instantly imagine myself strolling the shore, ice cream cone in one hand, boyfriend in the other. (In my fantasies, junk food makes me skinny…just fyi)

Accessories can have such a big impact on an outfit, I really need to get better at utilizing mine. And I definitely need to pick up some new things, my collection is pretty small.

Where do you buy your accessories? And which accessory do you use the most?

Niki

1 pair of shorts, 3 different looks. Why? Because I’m poor. Lol, okay I’m not completely broke but I do have a budget to stick to. That means sometimes I can afford the sartorial desires of my heart ….and the rest of the time I’m mixing & matching, thrifting, or…if I’m honest….making sure my credit card still works.

Today is the first of my jean short looks. The shorts only cost me $10 last summer when I bought them and every top I share this week is from my closet :)

Next weekend I get to go shopping because…. I’m attending the San Diego Latino Film Festival on March 12th! And that means I need a new dress. More info on this event coming soon (I’m super excited!).

Are you on a pretty tight budget when it comes to clothes? And do you ever feel like you’re stuck wearing the same outfit combos over and over?

Visiting new places, trying new things, and taking my boyfriend with me is pretty much what I consider a perfect weekend. Throw fashion into the mix and I might explode from happiness.

We went on a little adventure to Joshua Tree and although we didn’t plan on climbing over giant boulders….we couldn’t help ourselves. Adventure is in our blood (even though sometimes I’m a scaredy cat, I always go for it Lol). I hope to keep traveling and exploring even if it’s just on a local level while we save up for bigger things. I want to see it all :)

Have you visited Joshua Tree? Do the outdoors interest you? What about travel….where would you go first if you could go anywhere in the world?

DualWalletsOnly a few days left until Valentine’s day! And I have a fun handmade gift idea to share with you :) My friend Bree makes cute duct tape wallets that you can have customized. I love that they’re a unique gift and that she makes them herself. There’s something truly endearing about anything homemade. I think it’s because you know that if someone is using their free time to work on a project than there’s love and passion behind it.

You can check out Bree’s Facebook HERE and tomorrow I’ll be featuring her adorable heart clutch wallet!

Since my boyfriend was nice enough to join me for the photos, we ended up shooting with his cousin Christina. She’s a talented photographer and I really hope we can work with her again soon!

Let me know what you guys think about these awesome duct tape wallets. How would you have yours customized?!

Leopard Skirt Romance

leopardhighlow leopardOutfit LeopardSkirtHi :) So I’m keeping these date night outfit posts pretty simple. But I have some very creative posts coming up in the next few weeks (so excited!) and I think that’ll create a nice balance.

This skirt is from… you guessed it…Forever 21. Lol. I wish there were more options within that price range. On the bright side, there’s a huge F21 by my house with a pretty big selection of stuff.

My shoes are sooo old but surprisingly comfy. They’re a $20 Ross find. And last but not least, my top is made by the company I work for Joie :)

I hope your week is off to a great start!

Pink Shoes and a Silly Face

Nike Flex Shoes

Silly FaceAwesome Nike Flex Shoes

We made it to Wednesday! Let the weekend countdown commence! So I wanted to focus in on my shoes really quickly because they make me super happy Lol. I beat my last pair up for a good two years and finally needed to get something more supportive for running. These hot pink Nike Flex shoes feel amazing, they’re very flexible. Plus they’re on sale right now!

On another note, I think it’s important to remember that life is about having fun. So no matter what you’re doing, enjoy it, have fun and try to not take yourself too seriously (This is one of my new year’s resolutions). And so in keeping with my resolution… I also wanted to share my mismatched socks & silly face with you. Happy Wednesday :)

Lots of love,

Niki
