Throwback Thursday

Every Thursday I see the #ThrowbackThursday hashtag all over instagram and I started thinking about where LoveNiki started and where it is now. Sharing my passion for dressing up has been so much fun. I’m excited to come up with new creative photo shoots and put together more outfits :) I use to think it was a little silly to be passionate about dressing up, but there’s never ever anything silly about doing what you love and following your heart.

I get to go shopping Sunday! It’s been a while since I last did some serious shopping. I’m definitely going to be hunting down deals to get the most bang for my buck. That’s sort of what inspired today’s post. I wish every season meant a brand new wardrobe but the reality of it is that, I have to find ways to rock seasonal stuff all year round. It allows you to have more outfit options no matter what time of year it is.

Major props to my mom for playing my photographer this morning! I think she did a great job. And yes, these shots would have been extra cool if I drove a Lambo or something but I don’t. Lol. I drive an ’98 honda civic and I love it! It’s the first and only car I’ve ever owned :)

Renaissance Faire Outfit

This outfit was inspired by…..the renaissance period! I love the renaissance faire so much. The costumes, the axe throwing, the everything! I was able to rent my costume there but I did purchase the furry hood shown above from a very creative and talented vendor. She made it out of ugly old sweaters, cool huh? Sunday Dress

I hope your Easter was wonderful! Yesterday’s outfit was a last minute ensemble and it cost me $200, not. Lol. The dress is a million years old and the cardigan has been around a few years but I had surprisingly never worn them together. I feel like only having a few minutes to put something together can lead to some unexpectedly cute outfits….most of the time.

Weekend Round Up

Back to the daily grind! I wanted to share a few of my weekend purchases and my outfit. I bought the wallet a few weekends ago but haven’t had a chance to share it. I am in love with both items, they’re so me. Lol. Now, I know they look pricey and well, they are. BUT….there’s something I’ve learned when it comes to saving money. Sometimes buying a cheap item will cost you more than a pricey one, in the long run.

Case in point, I’ve broken a lot of cheap wallets. Lol. I still buy a few to have options for different events but when it comes to the main wallet I carry around I decided I wanted to invest in one that’ll likely last 2+ years. Same idea goes for the shirt.

Safari Park in San Diego

The San Diego Safari Park is pretty awesome. Well, if you like animals it’s awesome. It’s a zoo taken to the next level. And your admission fee goes to helping out all the animals you see so it’s easy to justify spending $40 to get in. You can also pay from exclusive safaris that focus on different animals.

If you’re planning to be in San Diego soon, definitely check it out!

We arrived early in San Diego for the film festival. It was nice being able to enjoy the shoreline and sunshine on a Tuesday. I also had a chance to work on my photography :) I’m really hoping to win a new camera and guess what? You can help me!

Jean Shorts Look 3: Denim on Denim

Remix number 3! It took 3 blouses to create this look. Lol. Layering is a little tricky for me. Because of my body shape, I can end up looking like a bulky blob if I’m not careful.

Yesterday’s look was so simple, relying only on an accessory to make it pop but today is all about dimension and color. The red spaghetti strap keeps the look festive, the white lace top adds the dimension, and the denim top tones it all down and pulls it together.

Jean Shorts with a Pop of Color

I was able to spend $0 on this look! That’s kind of the broke girl theme of the week. Lol. I really like the fun vacationy feel of this outfit. I instantly imagine myself strolling the shore, ice cream cone in one hand, boyfriend in the other. (In my fantasies, junk food makes me skinny…just fyi)

Accessories can have such a big impact on an outfit, I really need to get better at utilizing mine. And I definitely need to pick up some new things, my collection is pretty small.

Jean Shorts: Look 1

1 pair of shorts, 3 different looks. Why? Because I’m poor. Lol, okay I’m not completely broke but I do have a budget to stick to. That means sometimes I can afford the sartorial desires of my heart ….and the rest of the time I’m mixing & matching, thrifting, or…if I’m honest….making sure my credit card still works.

Today is the first of my jean short looks. The shorts only cost me $10 last summer when I bought them and every top I share this week is from my closet :)

Next weekend I get to go shopping because…. I’m attending the San Diego Latino Film Festival on March 12th! And that means I need a new dress. More info on this event coming soon (I’m super excited!).
